Bio

Nicholas Gauthier is a Special Projects Manager in the ACLU Immigrants' Rights Project, managing projects initiated in response to the Trump administration's mass removals and related policies. Before joining IRP, he worked at the Legal Aid Society as a Paralegal Casehandler, helping New Yorkers access benefits in order to secure and preserve housing. Nicholas graduated with honors from Columbia University with a B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology. There, he was a Program Manager for Rethink, a program that engaged students, academics, and formerly incarcerated people from across the city on philosophical questions related to justice and ethics. He was Co-Editor-in-Chief of Columbia's premier undergraduate literary magazine. And he conducted research in the cognitive sciences. He also graduated from the University of Oxford with a BPhil (aka MPhil) in Philosophy, where he wrote a thesis on the role of treating others well in living a fulfilling life.
